I have some amazing news to share with you...

I have been accepted by Bath Spa University onto their MA in Creative Writing, which I start in October and I'm so excited about this. I'll be writing lots of new poetry during the course and dedicating time to reading, learning and writing the best work that I can create.

It’s an important step for me to take in my writing career and I know that I am going to love being back at university. I did a BA Hons in Product Design, way back in the ’90s. This time the focus is on my passion for poetry. It will be a lot of hard work but I’m going to relish the challenges that come my way.

I’ll still be proving design service to my clients lovely, old and new. It just means a lifestyle shift and a streamlining of the work I will take on during the course. As I’m a mature student, I still have to work to generate an income but I am determined to get the most I can out of the MA and propel my writing to a whole new level.

It’s true to say that I have been shifting focus in my freelance work to Book Cover Design services and Author and Publisher Websites, to tie in with my passion for writing. It’s only logical, that the MA will help me to gain more design work in the publishing industry as a go-to cover designer. I also want to provide creative workshops in the future and also create opportunities for new and existing writers and poets.

Some of you may know that, back in January, I decided to launch my own arts magazine, Steel Jackdaw www.steeljackdaw.com which is a mixed arts magazine with a focus on poetry and creative writing and this also ties in perfectly with the career progression of taking an MA.

Who knows what the future has in store but, right now, I am filled with positivity and anticipation.
